I decided to try a new way to make pizza, rather than the boring cheese & pepperoni varieties my family typically eats. They are good, of course, but *yawn* sometimes it's nice to do something out of the ordinary. You know?
I had some ham, and I had some shredded Swiss. Hmm, sounds like the makings of my new favorite pizza!
Ham & Swiss Pizza
Ingredients:
Crust:
2 1/2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 pkg (1/4 oz) dry yeast for pizza dough
1 Tbsp + 2 tsp olive oil
1 cup lukewarm water
Sauce:
1 bunch green onion, chopped
1 Tbsp butter, melted
1 Tbsp flour
1 cup evaporated milk
1 Tbsp honey mustard
1/4 cup shredded Swiss cheese
Toppings:
1 cup cubed cooked ham
1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
Directions:
Lightly grease a 12x9-inch baking sheet with olive oil. In a large bowl, mix the flour and salt together; stir in the yeast. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture. Add olive oil and water. Mix until a soft dough forms, then turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead dough gently for 5 minutes. Roll out dough and press into prepared baking sheet. Cover with plastic wrap; allow to rest for 10 minutes at room temperature. Meanwhile, preheat oven to 400 F. After dough has rested, bake in preheated oven for 7-8 minutes. Remove crust from oven and set aside.
Mix sauce ingredients together in a medium bowl. Microwave for about 30 seconds. Pour and spread sauce over crust. Top with ham and shredded Swiss cheese toppings. Bake for 12-15 minutes.
