Earn Rewards for Being Healthy!

For those of you who have health insurance through Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), you may be eligible to participate in their Blue Points rewards program. The program is an incentive for you to eat healthy, stay physically fit, and earn points as you do so that you can redeem for merchandise, gift cards, or give to charity. And it's not beans and rice type rewards--earn enough points and you can redeem for fitness equipment and flat screen TVs!
There are four different ways that you can earn points:
  1. Physical Activity Tracker -- Spend 30 minutes a day doing some type of activity, anywhere from aerobics to gardening to stretching to yoga. Record your activity and earn 26 points each day.
  2. Fruit and Vegetable Tracker -- Eat 5 or more fruits and/or vegetables a day and record your activity. You can earn 100 points per week if there are 5 or more days that you ate 5 or more fruits and/or vegetables.
  3. Join HealthMedia Programs -- Join two healthmedia programs and earn a total of 800 points per year. There are 5 programs you can choose from: Breathe, Balance, Relax, Care and Nourish. You can join all 5 programs if you want, but you will only earn points for up to 2 per year.
  4. Preventative Care -- You can earn 200 points per year for recording your Cervical Screening/Pap Smear or Tetanus Shot. You do have to provide the name of the health care provider that you go to.

The Blue Points program is free to all individuals covered under a BCBS insurance plan. To find out more information, click here for BCBS North Carolina plan participants or visit your state's BCBS home page. You will need to register and log in to the website in order to participate.
