Conversions & Substitutions--Thickeners

This is one substitution tip that has come in handy since we learned earlier this year that my husband is actually allergic to cornstarch. We haven't tried the tapioca, but substituting with flour definitely works just the same.

Thickener Substitutions

Ingredient ~ Substitute
1 Tbsp cornstarch ~ 2 Tbsp flour or 1 1/3 Tbsp quick-cooking tapioca

1 Tbsp flour ~ 1/2 Tbsp cornstarch or 2 tsp quick-cooking tapioca

1 Tbsp tapioca ~ 1 1/2 Tbsp all-purpose flour
